US Secretary of State Blinken meets with Burmese activists

Burmese activists met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday to discuss the post-coup situation and the political crisis in Burma.

The State Department said in a statement that it had met online to find out about Burmese activists’ efforts to return to democracy in the face of brutal military violence within a year of the military coup.

Mr Blanc called for an end to human rights abuses by the Burmese military. Targeted sanctions, including targeted sanctions, are being used to push for the release of detainees and a return to the path of democratic transition. He said he had explained the economic pressure to Burmese activists.

“Some Western countries, including the United States, have imposed sanctions to put pressure on Burma’s military authorities, but more needs to be done to make them more effective.”

UN officials

UN officials say some Western countries, including the United States, have imposed sanctions to put pressure on Burma’s military authorities, but more needs to be done to make them more effective. Human rights groups and Burmese activists are urging.

More than a year after the military overthrew Burma’s civilian government in February last year, there has been criticism that the international community has not responded effectively.
