The UN Security Council’s resolution calling for an end to violence in Myanmar and the release of State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is an attempt to destabilize Myanmar, the military council said in a statement on December 23.
The Security Council voted for the first time for the Myanmar Security Council, which is in a very bad situation on December 21, after China and Russia, allies of the Myanmar Military Council, did not veto and vote. The 15-member Security Council has been at loggerheads over Myanmar for decades, and in the past has only agreed to issue official statements.
“The Security Council voted for the first time for the Myanmar Security Council, which is in a very bad situation on December 21, after China and Russia, allies of the Myanmar Military Council, did not veto and vote. The 15-member Security Council has been at loggerheads over Myanmar for decades, and in the past has only agreed to issue official statements.”
The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Military Council also stated that the UN resolution contains a lot of information that interferes in Myanmar’s internal affairs, and this is a blatant violation of the UN’s policy, instead of supporting Myanmar’s efforts, trying to put pressure on Myanmar’s stability is not helpful for Myanmar and will not be accepted.
The UN draft resolution on Myanmar was supported by 12 member states, while permanent members China and Russia abstained and India did not vote.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Military Council on December 23, it was reiterated that the November 2020 election was marred by widespread voter fraud and that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s National Democratic Party won. International monitoring groups said the election was free and fair. According to human rights groups, more than 2,500 people have been killed since the military that overthrew the civilian government led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and detained her in a crackdown on anti-coup protesters.
