Not only in Cox’s Bazar city or Teknaf’s Ukhiya, more than three lakh Rohingyas are spread all over the country. On the one hand, it has created a security threat, on the other hand, there are various types of terrorist activities including drugs – which are constantly becoming a threat to security.
Recently, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told reporters that “the Rohingyas could pose a threat to the country’s sovereignty. Even the emergence of militants may be from the Rohingya camps”.
If effective steps are not taken in these matters, the situation will become more dire, say the concerned. And law enforcement forces say that effective measures are being taken after looking into these issues. This information is obtained from related sources.
Several officials of Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar law enforcement forces said that Rohingya camps are becoming one of the “safe havens for terrorist groups”. To prevent the Rohingyas from getting involved in various types of crimes, a decision should be made regarding the mobile network. This must be closely monitored. Apart from this, they believe that it is necessary to bring various media-based apps under surveillance.
Apart from Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Bandarban, Khagrachari, Rangamati, Cumilla, Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Feni, Dhaka and 64 districts of the country, Rohingyas are mixing with the public.
It is learned that there are 33 camps in Teknaf and Ukhiya Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar and more than 12,000 Rohingyas are living in Bhasan Char in Noakhali. Rohingya camps have now become hotbeds of crime. Drug and arms trade is being controlled from the camps. Terrorists and militants are dominating Rohingya camps.
Chattogram Range DIG Nur Alam Meena said that Rohingyas have spread in 11 districts of Chattogram Range. They are creating security threats through various criminal activities. But we are looking into these issues.
A police official of the media and awareness branch of the Anti-Terrorism Unit said that surveillance is being taken to ensure that terrorist groups or militant groups do not use Rohingyas to create any kind of unstable environment.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, Director of the Law and Media Branch of RAB, said that the criminality of Rohingyas is increasing day by day. Apart from this, a few top leaders of militant organizations have been arrested near the Rohingya camp. The plan was to repatriate the Rohingyas to their groups. Important information was obtained from them after the arrest. Those matters are being looked into.
Cox’s Bazar District Police Superintendent Mahfuzul Islam said that the main problem in Cox’s Bazar is Rohingya. Even the negative role of Rohingyas is behind the deterioration of the law and order situation.
Cox’s Bazar 14 APBN captain additional DIG Syed Harunor Rashid said that we are working to restore order in the Rohingya camp.
