Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu
He said this at the inauguration ceremony of a 50-bed Field Hospital run by Turkish government organisation AFAD at Rohingya camp No. 9 in Palangkhali union under Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar at 10am today, reports our local correspondent.
The field hospital was destroyed by fire on March 22 last year.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Dr Md Enamur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
Following the inauguration of the field hospital, the Turkish interior minister paid a visit to a temporary shelter for Rohingyas displaced by the fire in the same camp. He spent some time there playing with some Rohingya youths and later conversing with Rohingyas of various ages.
He then visited a health care programme run by the Turkish Red Crescent at the camp No. 17, and a soap factory made by Rohingyas and run by the Dayanat Foundation — a Turkish private development organisation.
After a special flight carrying the Turkish minister landed the Cox’s Bazar airport around 8am, state minister Enamur Rahman received him there.
Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission (RRRC) Shaa Rezowan Hayat, Divisional Commissioner of Chattogram Kamrul Hasan, Deputy Inspector of Police (Chattogram range) Anwar Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar Mamunur Rashid and the district’s Superintendent of Police Md Hasanuzzaman were present.
The minister, who is being accompanied by a 20-member team, went to Rohingya Refugee Camp in Ukhia directly from the airport by road.
