A group led by the Minister of International Cooperation of the Military Council, U Ko Ko Hlaing, is in the Sittwe township,Rakhine State on February 6, to discuss the issue of readmission of Rohingyas who left Rakhine State in Bangladesh.
“The main thing they come to here is the Immigration issues. They come for re-acceptance. Can say that there is another ICJ case also,” said a person close to the state council.
In addition to U Ko Ko Hlaing, Minister of Border Affairs General Tun Tun Naung, Minister of Rescue and Repatriation, Dr. Thet Thet Khaing, Minister of Immigration and Manpower U Myint Krayin are said to be involved.
U Ko Ko Hlaing and his team is going to hold meetings to obtain information about the situation that happened in 2017 regarding the case filed by Gambia against Myanmar at the International Court of Justice- ICJ. But, the team still don’t know how to collect information and to whom to meet.
In 2017, the Gambia filed a lawsuit against Myanmar at the International Court of Justice – ICJ accusing Myanmar of committing genocide against the Rohingya. After that, the court rejected all four objections, so Myanmar will continue to face the charge of genocide.
