UNICEF vaccines Rohingya children in Bhasan Char

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on Thursday that the United Nations’ routine immunization program for children has started vaccinating Rohingya refugee children on the island of Bhashan Char, Bangladesh, this week.

UNICEF is providing technical and financial assistance to the Bangladeshi government to help vaccinate children on Bhashan Char Island. The children have been vaccinated with two special programs since their arrival on the island, and the first regular immunization program began this week.

The Rohingya children needed to be vaccinated on Bhashan Char Island and could not be wasted their time as they could not be vaccinated.

George Laryea-Adjei, UNICEF’s chief of staff for South Asia, who visited Bashan char on April 20 and 21, said the Rohingya children needed to be vaccinated on Bashan char Island and could not be wasted their time as they could not be vaccinated.
