Military council official had received 700 Rohingya list who will return home

Hla Thein, a spokesman for the Rakhine State Council, said the military council was planning to repatriate Rohingya refugees who had fled to Bangladesh, and Bangladesh had sent a list of about 700 Rohingya.

The first place was in the Hla Pho Khaung returnee reception camp organized by the NLD government. Hla Thein said they would be taken to their original villages where they lived before.

“The original route for receiving land and waterways will be sent to Hla Pho Khaung camp by the designated departments in those areas- Ngakura and Taungbro. In Hla Pho Khaung, will check and interrogations what official need their information, after that send to their original villages where had lived before.”

“We have already made plans to accept both land and water routes,” he said. The original route for receiving land and waterways will be sent to Hla Pho Khaung camp by the designated departments in those areas- Ngakura and Taungbro. In Hla Pho Khaung, will check and interrogations what official need their information, after that send to their original villages where had lived before, he said.

It is unknown at this moment when the Rohingya refugee start repatriate, Bangladesh side still not giving detail.

Before the military council is scheduled to return to the International Court Justice (ICJ) on December 17 last year, the Union Minister for Military Affairs, Daw Thet Thet Khaing, Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing, visited transit resettlement camps.

The military council delegation said at ICJ, will accept about 700 Rohingya after the return from ICJ.

Khin Maung, director of the Rohingya Youth Association in the Tankhali refugee camp in Bangladesh, told that the Rohingya do not trust the military council but want to return to their homes if their demands are met because the living conditions in the camps are so difficult.

“We do not want to stay here too long. We do not have much human rights here. Children do not have access to education. We want to go back too. But the situation in our country is not the same as before, so we need to create a situation where we can return.”

“We do not want to stay here too long. We do not have much human rights here. Children do not have access to education. We want to go back too. But the situation in our country is not the same as before, so we need to create a situation where we can return.”

We will return; able to go to our village, fulfill our demands, we do not fully trust the military council, who drove out from our country, killed, raped, burn our villages? How can we trust them? It depends on the circumstances to become trust them.”

Under the NLD government, the Rohingya were repatriated in 2019, but few returned voluntarily.

The Arakan Army (AA) has controlled about 60 percent of the population in Rakhine State, so the AA has not yet commented on the repatriation of Rohingya.

The spokesman for Arakan Army (AA) said at a press conference on March 5, the focus was on reconciliation between different ethnic groups in Rakhine State.
“We focus on harmony among the different ethnic groups in Rakhine State. We ourselves have been oppressed. For that, justice, mutual respect and love; We are trying to build unity. In line with these principles, all the ethnic groups involved are working with us to work when the country needs it.”

The military tribunal, which has been charged with genocide, spent four days in The Hague, the Netherlands, but did not use the word Rohingya in its response.

This is one of the demands of the Rohingya who fled.

In May 2021, the coup leader, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, told Phoenix, a Chinese news outlet, that he did not recognize the Rohingya.

Ali Jainna Hussin said it is impossible to repatriate as so many IDP camp with Rohingya are living in IDP camp and the authority didn’t allow them to go to their home which is so close to them. The military council’s plan is first to keep Rohingya refugee in Hla Php Khaung transit repatriation camp and after checking and investigate all refugee about their data, them to move their original places. If the military council keep all in the transit camp. What you do? Them nobody want to wish to repatriate.

“No one know about the 700 refugees will repatriate in the camp, there is no information about 700 people repatriate to Burma from Camp official or camps’ Majees. So, it is impossible for us to make sure to repatriate.”

No one know about the 700 refugees will repatriate in the camp, there is no information about 700 people repatriate to Burma from Camp official or camps’ Majees. So, it is impossible for us to make sure to repatriate.

There is no preparation for repatriation in Arakan, only military coup government build transit camp in the border areas, no building for people in the village. So, it is not possible to repatriate.
