Two Rohingya were killed and three injured by a hand grenade of the military council in Sittwe

Two Rohingyas were killed and three others were injured when two military council soldiers fired a grenade at Dom Pyin Village, Maung Ni Pyin Village, Sittwe Township, Rakhine State yesterday evening, March 27, accourding to villagers.

A villager, who did not want to be named for security reasons, told that after the two military council soldiers beat up the Rohingya who were walking near the Rakhine state parliament, the villagers gathered around them and fired a grenade.

“There are soldiers in Parliament. Two of them called villagers who were walking on the road and beat them. As soon as the people from the mosque came down there, people gathered around asking what happened. A soldier threw a grenade there. Two died. Three were injured.”

At present, the injured are receiving medical treatment and the villagers are worried and afraid, he said.

When contacted Rakhine State Attorney General U Hla Thein on the phone about this incident, he said he was not aware of these issues.

Telegram social pages supporting the military council are spreading the word that the incident in Dompyun village was not their handiwork but the AA group’s handiwork.

According to the lists compiled by RFA, from November 13, when the resurgence of fighting in Rakhine State began, until today, the military council’s aerial bombardments, big weapon 89 Rohingya have been killed and 127 injured due to small arms fire.
