UN Ambassador to Burma Kyaw Moe Tun has called on the United Nations to provide immediate assistance to the people of Burma in line with the R2P, as the international community, abbreviated as R2P, continues to fail to protect the Burmese people who are being persecuted by the Burmese military.
“The dire situation in Burma is no longer the result of local authorities failing to protect their people. The R2P, which was enacted in 2005, is in line with grave human rights abuses by the military, which seeks to intimidate people for power. “
