Bangladesh Rohingya refugees will take back when officially talk to the international community- AA

AA will work to re-accept the Rohingya in Bangladesh who left their homes in northern Rakhine when AA can officially talk to the international community, including the government of Bangladesh, according to press conference on September 19.

Nerly one million Rohingya from Maungdaw ,Buthidaung and Rathedaung in Rakhine State were forced to leave their homes to Bangladesh, due to the Myanmar army’s clearance operations in 2017.

These Rohingya are currently living as refugees in the world’s largest refugee camp in Bangladesh.

Regarding the issue of the re-entry of Rohingya refugees to the Rakhine side, ULA/AA is willing to work, but the Bangladesh government and the international community need to recognize ULA/AA in order to do so, said Rakhine Army spokesperson Khaing Thukha.

“Some people have the opinion that ULA must solve this Rohingya issue. We are also willing to solve it so that we can live together peacefully. However, since this is a very big problem, it is difficult for us to act as a revolutionary government. If we have to solve it, we need to be recognized by the government of Bangladesh and the international community. When we can talk to them legally, we will accept the refugees.”

The issue of re-accepting the refugees in Bangladesh from Myanmar is an issue that the Bangladesh government as well as the international community wants.

After 2012, the Burmese government restricted the freedom of movement within the rest of Rakhine State, and during the current military council, the freedom of movement of Rohingya continues to be restricted.

On the other hand, ULA/AA is leading the peaceful co-existence of other ethnic groups, including Rohingya in Rakhine State, and opening the way for Rohingya to move freely in the state.
